Automotive

The business of manufacturing and assembling trucks, automobiles, ships, airplanes and other forms of transportation.

Chemical

This industry includes establishments that produce basic chemicals and establishments manufacturing products by predominately chemical processes. Establishments in the chemical manufacturing group produce one of three general classes of products:
(1) basic chemicals, such as acids, alkalis, salts, and organic chemicals;
(2) chemical products to be used in further manufacture, such as synthetic fibers, plastic materials, dry colors, and pigments; and
(3) finished chemical products to be used for ultimate consumption, such as drugs, cosmetics, and soaps; or to be used as materials or supplies in other industries, such as paints, fertilizers, and explosives.

Metals

This industry includes establishments engaged in smelting and refining ferrous and nonferrous metals form ore, pig, or scrap; in rolling, drawing, and alloying metals; in manufacturing, casting and other basic metal products; and in manufacturing nails, spikes, and insulated wire and cable. This industry includes the production of coke.

Mining

This industry includes all establishments primarily engaged in mining. The term mining is used in the broad sense to include the extraction of minerals occurring naturally: solids, such as coal and ores; liquids, such as crude petroleum; and gases such as natural gas. The term mining is also used in the broad sense to include quarrying, well operations, milling (e.g., crushing, screening, washing, flotation), and other preparation customarily done at the mine site, or as a part of mining activity.

Power

Establishments engaged in the generation transmission, and / or distribution of electric energy for sale.

Pulp and Paper

This industry includes establishments primarily engaged in the manufacture of pulps from wood and other cellulose fibers, and from rags; the manufacture of paper and paper board into converted products, such as paper coated off the paper machine, paper bags, paper boxes, and envelopes. Also included are establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing bags of plastics film and sheet.

Refining

This industry is primarily engaged in producing gasoline, kerosene, distillate fuel oils, residual fuel oils, and lubricants, through fractionation or straight distillation of crude oil, redistillation of unfinished petroleum derivatives, cracking or other processes. Establishments in this industry also produce aliphatic and aromatic chemicals as byproducts.
